MK Diekmann started with Malibu Detox in February 2020. She began as a behavioral health technician before becoming a case manager in 2020 and then program coordinator in December 2023. Now, MK acts as Assistant Executive Director where she works closely with the Executive Director to oversee all aspects of the facility and its operations.
As Assistant Executive Director, MK plays a crucial role in developing and implementing treatment programs that meet the individual needs of each client. She oversees our team of dedicated professionals, ensuring that they provide evidence-based therapies and support services that lead to successful outcomes. MK also works collaboratively with community partners to ensure our clients receive comprehensive care both during and after their time at Malibu Detox and Malibu Recovery Center.
She is currently pursuing an AA in Psychology with aspirations for a Master’s Degree in Psychology to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. MK is committed to ongoing education and professional development. She holds the Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification through CAADE.
MK entered the behavioral health field in May 2018, initially working as a Tech at Teen Project – an addiction treatment center for women. Prior to her work in behavioral health, MK gained valuable experience in a lead position at Microsoft as a Lead Technical Advisor in Cerritos, CA, from 2011 to 2018. This role equipped her with leadership skills, emphasizing empathy, care, and compassion, while ensuring team and customer satisfaction.
Her diverse background in both behavioral health and the corporate sector uniquely positions MK for her current responsibilities. Working as a BHT, case manager, and program coordinator provide her insights into the inner workings of various program departments, ensuring a stable and safe environment for clients’ health. Her experience in leading a team at Microsoft also emphasizes her focus on collaborative goals, empathy, and achieving overall satisfaction.
MK’s passion for recovery stems from her personal experience with treatment. Originally from Los Angeles, MK enjoys spending her spare time with her son, indulging in activities like watching movies, going to Disneyland, and supporting him and his hockey career.
